Technology News Leader Kara Swisher Keynotes Economic Forum in Milwaukee

Technology news leader Kara Swisher was recently able to share her broad insights on where the industry is headed with an enthusiastic crowd in Milwaukee. She was the keynote speaker for the Milwaukee Jewish Federation's 2018 Economic Forum. 

A sold-out crowd of 650 business executives from the region listened to Swisher's remarks at The Pfister Hotel. She harped on the need for more innovation and how further regulation could be on the horizon for the tech industry. 

"More regulation is probably coming," she Swisher. "We need to be careful that it doesn't put big tech companies at advantage and small start ups at disadvantage."

After hearing from Swisher, a panel of local business leaders held a community conversation. The two presentations provided a great mix of local and global information about technology and the economy. 

Swisher is the editor-at-large for Recode and producer of the Recode Decode podcast and Code Conference. She recently gained great notoriety for a podcast she hosted with Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg that focused on the social network's user privacy problems. 

Swisher previously worked for the Wall Street Journal as the writer of their front page Marketplace column, "BoomTown" and co-host of "D: All Things Digital." She began her career working for an alternative paper in Washington D.C. 

Swisher is the author of two books. She describes herself as the "grumpy lady of tech" for her frank takes on the industry.
