Apple Co-Founder Steve Wozniak Advocates for Blockchain Technology

Many people are curious about the future of blockchain technology. Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak is one industry leader who believes that blockchain will have a lasting impact on the financial world.

Wozniak has said that Bitcoin has proven its worth as digital currency. He recently shared reasons why blockchain technology initially caught his eye.

“All the advantages are there because there’s no creator, there’s no owner, there’s no company involved here, there’s no central control,” said Wozniak. “So it caught our attention. And everywhere I go in the world, I run into huge numbers of people that are developing different applications in life, things that we do in life, that will be on the blockchain.”

Cryptocurrency has another high-profile support from Yahoo founder Jerry Yang. Yang said at the Innovation Asia Forum that blockchain is a "natural technology" for the finance industry, but it remains to be seen if this technology can build consumer trust.

Wozniak was the co-founder of Apple in 1976 and instrumental in the design of the company's first two computers. He left Apple in 1985 and went on to more success, including founding CL 9 and creating the first universal remote.

Wozniak remains employed by Apple in a ceremonial position. He has focused much of his more recent work on improving technology in K-12 education.

Wozniak serves as the Chief Scientist at Primary Data. He is a member of the National Inventors Hall of Fame and recipient of the National Medal of Technology.
