Brooks is the head of the American Enterprise Institute, which is a conservative think tank that creates policy solutions based on libertarian economics and conservative principles. Brooks has written several books, including The Road to Freedom: How to Win the Fight for Free Enterprise, and The Conservative Heart: How to Build a Fairer, Happier, and More Prosperous America. Those books became New York Times best sellers. Although Brooks writes from a conservative point of view he doesn’t consider himself a Republican. Brooks sees himself as a political independent.
