Drue Kataoka is a visual artist who is of Japanese ancestry. She is currently working in the United States. Kataoka has won numerous awards, including being named a Young Global Leader in 2012 at the Davos World Economic Forum. Kataoka was born in Tokyo, but attended Stanford University in Palo Alto, California. Her work often takes her to Europe, New York, and even back to Toyko. She specializes in brainwave installations and paintings, and enjoys using negative space in her work. In 2013, she had a brainwave-smart glass installed at Davos.
