Garrett Reisman Biography

Garrett Reisman is a former NASA astronaut who flew on all three space shuttles. He originally joined the elite organization as a mission specialist astronaut in 1998. During his time in space, Reisman took three spacewalks, manned the International Space Station's Robot Arm and served as a shuttle flight engineer. In addition to adventuring through space, he was an aquanaut who lived on the bottom of the sea for two weeks as a member of the NEEMO V crew. Reisman left NASA in 2011 and went on to work with Elon Musk at SpaceX until 2019. He rose to the position of Director of Space Operations and still serves the company as a special advisor. Reisman now is at the University of Southern California as a Professor of Astronautical Engineering at the Viterbi School.
