Terry Virts Biography

Terry Virts is a former NASA astronaut. He also served as a colonel in the US Air Force. Virts calls Maryland home, and he graduated from the US Air Force Academy in 1989. He holds a master of aeronautical science degree in aeronautics from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University as well. He began his NASA career in 2000, and started training in August of 2000. He has served as the pilot of the STS-130 and the lead astronaut of the NASA T-38 program. He holds several military awards, including the Air Medal, the Aerial Achievement Media, the Meritorious Service Medal, and the Air Force Commendation Medal.
